Abstract

This spreadsheet is a "Beta" spreadsheet useful for determining a "baseline" of facilities (FAC) and ground support equipment (GSE) costs for a new space transportation system. Used alone it provides a "what if" set of cost answers for the new concept using historical Shuttle information. It extrapolates costs quickly based only on the size of the vehicle, the size of the integrated stack, if more than one element, and the size of the payload bay, as applicable. It assumes "Shuttle-like" business. Evolved versions of this sheet will continue to be placed here.

In the interim, the "baseline" values generated may be used as a plug-in to the AATe (Architectural Assessment Tool - enhanced) which can modify the baseline values appropriately. This would result in an actual estimate of space transportation infrastructure costs, the Spaceport impact up-front, before any first flight. This AATe modified estimate (post processing by FACGSE) would include the effects of improvements, technology, design choices, reliability, etc. The baseline would have been a necessary starting point from which to "delta" to a better, more refined cost estimate.
